Trocaire College honors Higgins at Spring Soirée

Trocaire College announced that its annual fundraising event will honor former Congressman Brian Higgins with the President’s Award. The Trocaire Spring Soirée is Thursday, April 25 at 6 p.m. in the Grand Aeries Ballroom of 500 Pearl St., in Buffalo. This annual gathering of Trocaire supporters includes cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, plated dinner, awards presentation, and entertainment. The public is invited to attend. This fundraiser provides tuition assistance for Trocaire students

This year’s award recipients include:

Hon. Brian Higgins

Hon. Brian Higgins – 2024 Trocaire College President’s Award. This award is presented to a person, group, organization or corporation whose partnership with Trocaire furthers the college’s mission, vision and Mercy values, and supports Trocaire students and alumni. Higgins is being recognized for his years in Congress and for his contributions to Trocaire. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2005 until 2024. 

Carrie Meyer

Carrie Meyer ’95 – 2024 Distinguished Alumni Award. This award recognizes a graduate who serves as a positive role model to fellow alumni and current students. Meyer serves as the executive director of the Independent Health Foundation. Her mission is to enhance the public’s knowledge of important health matters through community collaborations and partnerships. Meyer received her associate degree from Trocaire College

Maria Savage

Maria Savage – 2024 Outstanding Student Award. Savage is a nursing student who is expected to graduate in May 2024. She is a Phi Theta Kappa nominee and is on the Dean’s list.  Savage has volunteered at a hospital and an orphanage in Kasmir, India.
