African American Commission presents ‘African Americans and the Arts’ on Zoom

Share

For many, African American history brings our attention to how social justice movements have shaped all Americans’ understanding of social injustices. In particular, we often retell the events of the Civil Rights Movement. This aspect of our American history is most certainly prominent as we have just celebrated the annual diocesan Mass in remembrance of the Civil Rights giant Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Our guest homilist Msgr. Raymond East of the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., preached so eloquently about how we are all called to serve as disciples of Jesus Christ.

Our attention for this year’s commemoration of African American history is regarding “African Americans and the Arts.” Come join us as the African American Commission presents discussions about how the arts tell history and bring interesting expressions about America’s history seen through the lens of the African American experience.

The virtual program will be Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. via Zoom
