Parents seeking a child-centered, independence-fostering education need look no further than Main Street in the Village of Williamsville. Offering a fully credentialed Montessori Children’s House for little ones aged 3-6, SS. Peter & Paul School is now accepting enrollment for a limited number of students whose families prioritize early childhood development and hands-on, self-paced learning in a prepared environment.

“Bringing a Montessori program into our school community for children aged 3 through 6 was such a natural decision for our multi-aged classical environment at SS. Peter & Paul School,” said Dr. Rose Hershenov, principal. SS. Peter & Paul School is already the diocesan academic hub for classical education. “We serve the children of parents who value rigorous academics, seek a holistic approach, prioritize a nurturing and intellectually stimulating educational experience, and value a strong foundation for lifelong learning. The seamless transition from Montessori’s foundational independence and self-paced learning to classical education’s self-pacing and rigor fosters a nurturing and supportive academic community that extends from age 3 to age 14.”

The Montessori Children’s House will open in August 2025, with head teacher Dr. Betsy Hartzell. Hartzell moved to Buffalo in 1988 to pursue graduate work, with a master’s in Elementary and Bilingual Education, and a Ph.D. in Early Childhood Education. She retired after 24 years as a bilingual teacher in the Buffalo Public Schools and studied for two additional years to intern and achieve her American Montessori Society certification as a Montessori 3-6 teacher from the Buffalo Montessori Teacher Education Program.
