The Parish Council of Blessed Sacrament Church is pleased to announce that a five-week Bible study course on ”The Famous & Forgotten Women of the Bible” will be presented by Deacon William Hynes at Blessed Sacrament Parish, in St. Joseph’s Hall, located at 1029 Delaware Ave., Buffalo.
The classes will be held on Wednesdays from 6:30-8 p.m. and will run from March 12-April 9. This course is open to all interested people in our community and Western New York, especially members of the Family of Downtown Parishes/Family #22. The classes will be offered live, in-person, as well as virtually available via Zoom.
Many of the well-known women of the Bible, such as Eve, Mary, Martha, Mary Magdalene, Rachel and Sarah will be recognized, along with many other women, such as Leah, Hannah, Jael, Susanna, Tabitha, Tamar and Rahab, who have not received the attention they deserve.
Whole books of the Bible, like Esther, Ruth and Judith, extol the contribution of extraordinary women. Dozens of other women punctuate Sacred Scripture.
Participants are asked to provide their own Bible. Any Catholic edition can be used. There are no fees, but registration is required. To register contact Lizza Buckley, course coordinator, at 716-939-3483 or eabuckley@msn.com.
Free, off-street parking is available in the parking lot of the Catholic Academy of West Buffalo located at 1069 Delaware Ave. The lot can be entered on Delaware Avenue near Lexington Avenue or from Linwood Avenue.
This course is a part of the educational programs presented by Church on Fire II. The 2024-2025 Church on Fire II program offers a series of five lectures and three concerts as well as a variety of educational programs, spiritual services, social events and service programs.
