Billboard campaign asks the questions Alpha can answer

Starting this week, motorists traveling along certain Buffalo-area roadways may see a billboard message, inviting them to a program known as Alpha. It’s an initiative the Diocese of Buffalo is hosting beginning this month, free to participants, in order to evangelize and encourage self-exploration of one’s Christian faith.

Fourteen parish families throughout the diocese will host Alpha, a once-per-week gathering which begins with participants enjoying something to eat, followed by watching a video, and then engaging in honest, judgment-free discussions about life, purpose and faith. Additionally, three parish families will host Youth Alpha, a variation of the program designed for teens.
The billboard campaign includes messaging on a digital board in downtown Buffalo along Route 190, and two stationary billboards viewed along Aero Drive in Williamsville and Abbott Road in Lackawanna.
“It is exciting to feel the enthusiasm around Alpha in so many parts of the Diocese. I pray that eyes will be drawn to the billboards and hearts will be moved to respond,” said Sister Louise Alff, OSF, who coordinates Alpha for the diocese.
All but one of the host parishes will begin their Alpha sessions the week of Sept. 16, (the exception being St. Mary of Lourdes in Mayville, which begins its Alpha program Wednesday, Sept. 11).
