TONAWANDA — Cardinal O’Hara High School is welcoming two key staff members as the 2024-25 year gets under way.

David Brick will take on the responsibility of assistant principal and Tyler Lloyd will combine his role as physical education teacher and athletic director.

David Brick

A 2011 graduate of O’Hara, Brick will work closely with O’Hara’s principal Joleen Dimitroff. His work will include backing up the school policies of dress code, cell phone use, and general behavior as well as supporting the teachers.

“My vision here at O’Hara is to set high expectations, push for high academic achievement, and keep the structure that helped shape me into the person I am today,” Brick commented.

He has a bachelor’s degree in adolescent education in social studies from Canisius University and a master’s degree in learning and emerging technology and STEM from the State University Empire State College.

Prior to his new position, Brick was dean of the middle school at Buffalo United Charter School in Buffalo, where he oversaw a team of nine teachers. He is skilled at the use of technology, classroom management, and student/parent relationships.

Tyler Lloyd

As new athletic director, Lloyd will be working with coaches and students drawing on his background as athletic director at the Buffalo Academy of Science Charter School where he also taught physical education.

Lloyd has a master’s degree in sports administration from Canisius University and is looking forward to the coming year with a new $1 million athletic complex. The baseball and softball fields were used for the first time this past spring and the football team will have its first game on the new field on Sept. 14. “It’s a very exciting time for our teams,” he said.

Principal Dimitroff said, “I am thrilled to welcome our new athletic director, Tyler Lloyd and assistant principal, David Brick to our community. Their passion, experience and commitment to our values will undoubtedly strengthen our school’s mission and enhance the holistic development of our students. We look forward to the exciting opportunities their leadership will bring to our athletic programs and academic initiatives. Together, we will continue to foster a nurturing and dynamic environment that prepares our students for success both on and off the field.”
