Lockport to hold Corpus Christi procession June 2
Share

On June 2, the Catholic Church will be celebrating the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ. The Catholic Family of Central Niagara will commemorate this special day by evangelizing the community through a eucharistic procession.
The procession will begin at 12 noon at St. John the Baptist Parish and march through the main street of Lockport. Priests will be carrying the Person of our Risen Lord’s Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity really present in the Consecrated Host.
Hymns will be sung and prayers will be recited. There will be two stops on the journey to All Saints Parish. These stops are called altars, where guests will stop, place the monstrance on the altar, and then take a few minutes to adore our Lord with prayer, songs and incense.
A short closing ceremony called a benediction will be held at All Saints. Afterwards, a short social with light refreshments will be held in the church hall, with a free will offering available.
Free shuttle service will pick up people who choose to park at All Saints, starting at 11 a.m., and continuing until the start of the procession. After, the shuttle will return guests to St. John’s. The shuttle will also be used during the procession for those wishing to participate, but unable to walk the procession route.
Please, prayerfully consider being part of this most powerful event. God will give special graces to those who will venerate Him in the Most Holy Blessed Sacrament.
All baptized Catholics, priests and religious, baptized non-Catholics, and any other persons of good will are welcome to join.
