TONAWANDA — Michael Rizzo, president of the board of directors at Cardinal O’Hara High School, announced that Ted Luckett has been appointed assistant principal for the private co-educational Catholic high school that has been providing faith-based high school education since 1961.

“We are very excited about Mr. Luckett joining the Cardinal O’Hara Family,” Rizzo said. “While his teaching and administrative experience will help us further our educational programs, the faith and character he exemplifies in his everyday life will surely help develop Franciscan values in our students even more. As assistant principal his focus will be on student life and campus ministry,” he added.
Luckett most recently served as the Catholic schools’ coordinator for the Together in Christ Family of Akron and Clarence. Prior to that he served as assistant principal and then principal of St. Gregory the Great School in Williamsville.
He was a therapeutic crisis intervention staff and trainer, social studies teacher and assistant principal at Gateway-Longview Lynde School in Williamsville.
Luckett explained that faith is what brought him to Cardinal O’Hara and having the opportunity to work in Catholic education.
“This school and the mission I have found to be not just a job but a calling towards a Christ-centered, family focused environment, that strives to serve the whole person and community,” he added.
Luckett has a master’s in special education from Niagara University as well as experience in youth ministry and coaching.
He explained that he will build on what former assistant principal David Brick did, working with students on discipline and a code of conduct. In addition, he will continue to focus on discipline, attendance and academics.
“My goals are to help mold our students to live by the teachings of Christ, while staying rooted in our Franciscan values,” Luckett said. “Working with our team, we’ll provide students with the skills and education needed to be successful individuals, carrying on the mission of Cardinal O’Hara.”
Luckett, his wife, Sarah, and four children live in Buffalo.
