St. John’s unveils new 14 Stations of the Cross with pro-life touch

ALDEN —St. John the Baptist’s 14 Stations of the Cross with Pro-life Meditations have been installed in the parish cemetery. The lasered plaques rest on sturdy stands, built to last 100 years. 

More than two years in the making, this project has come to fruition through the efforts of St. John’s 200 Club for Life and dedicated parishioners.

The stations were created and built by Alden Bulldog Manufacturing team – a group of Alden High School students with their engineering teachers’ guidance. It was spiritually guided by the Holy Spirit, St. John’s Works of Mercy Respect Life, and all parish ministries offering their support.

A dedication ceremony will take place Sunday, Aug. 3, after the 11 a.m. Mass, with Justin & Auguste Pautler, Don & Luanne Phillips, Al & Pam Turton serving as the installation team, with guidance from cemetery supervisor Phillip Walter and Father Lukasz Kopala. 

All are welcome to come visit the 14 Stations of the Cross, pray the rosary, walk, reflect, and allow God’s mercy and love touch our hearts.

 “The St. John the Baptist 200 Club is a parish community that is committed to nurturing and sustaining God’s precious gift of life. We support our youth and parish pro-life activities. Central to this endeavor is the promotion of the culture of life from conception to natural death,” reads St. John’s 200 Club Mission Statement.

Active 1997 through 2025 with a sincere pro-life mission, the 200 Club leadership team includes: founders Allen & Pamela Turton with Patrick & Marlene Bartram, Ron& Judy Bowman, Jim & Sandy Conrad, John & Barb Ertel, Russ & Audrey Fuller, Ryan & Maria LaVarnway, Steve & Carol Ley, Michelle Ley, Darren & Tracy Martin, Jeff & Michelle Zaleski’s, Ryan & Traci Vinz.
