Fourth Church on Fire II lecture to focus on challenges in leadership

The parish council of Blessed Sacrament Parish is pleased to announce the fourth lecture of the Church on Fire II Lecture Series for 2024-2025. “The Leadership Challenge Today in the Church,” will be presented by Father Ross Chamberland, OFM, Ed.D., on Sunday, March 9, at 12 p.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church located at 1029 Delaware Ave., Buffalo.

Father Chamberland will discuss the five perspectives of the leadership challenge and relate these to the current situations that exist in the Church today. Don’t miss this lecture as the issue of leadership is a critical dimension of how we as a faith community move forward in such challenging times.

Father Chamberland is a Franciscan friar-priest who has recently completed over a decade as an educator and senior administrator at St. Bonaventure University. He also served on the faculty of Christ the King Seminary in East Aurora. He is currently enrolled as a full-time student in the School of Canon Law at the Catholic University of American in Washington, D.C., and is on track to earn both the licentiate and doctorate degrees in Canon Law. While in Washington, he also serves as a confessor at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception; parochial assistant at St. Rose of Lima Church; and a friar in residence at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in America. Father Ross belongs to the Province of our Lady of Guadalupe.

Free, off-street parking is available in the parking lot of the Catholic Academy of West Buffalo located at 1069 Delaware Ave. The lot can be entered on Delaware Avenue near Lexington Avenue or from Linwood Avenue.

The 2024-2025 Church on Fire II series is sponsored by the McGloin Juenker Foundation Inc. and produced by the Parish Council of Blessed Sacrament Church. The program offers a series of five lectures and three concerts as well as a variety of educational programs, spiritual services, social events, and service programs. The overall objective of the series is to demonstrate how the Church can do good in our world today and invite members of our neighborhoods to gather and build community.
