Everything might be covered in white snow now, but soon everything will be green – one way or another.

The United Irish American Association has announced the 2025 St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place March 16, at 2 p.m., along Delaware Avenue. This year’s grand marshall will be Father David Richards, parochial vicar of the Catholic Community of Buffalo, North.
“It’s a once in a lifetime experience,” Father Richards said of the honor. “It’s beautiful to represent such a beautiful day in our community, where we celebrate faith, family and fun.”
Father Richards serves as chaplain of the parade community. They have been meeting weekly at the Irish Center since the beginning of January to plan the event.
This year’s parade carries the theme, “Hail to St. Patrick! God Bless America & Support Our Troops. Honor Our Frontline Workers,” and is dedicated to the memory of Janet O’Sullivan. Her connections to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade ran deep. Two of her sons, Michael and Patrick, are past grand marshals and are current members of the UIAA along with her grandson, Daniel.
The Buffalo parade began in the 1940s and has only been cancelled four times, two due to World War II, and twice to Covid-19.
“It shows our Irish heritage, our Catholic faith, and it is an exciting group we work with,” said John Courtney, vice president of the UIAA.
St. Joseph Cathedral will celebrate a St. Patrick’s Day Mass at 10:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. To participate in the parade, applications can be found here.
