Daye, who offers a daily dose of positivity on her “On the Brightside” podcast, visited the school on Nov. 26 to talk to fifth and sixth grade students on the invitation of Glenn Colton, music teacher at Immaculate Conception.

The class sang and danced while learning about the importance of guiding your steering wheel of life toward the good things they want.

“We make a picture in our minds to steer our way to what we want to be when we grow up,” explained Tessa, one of the young students.

One student told Daye about wanting to be a marine biologist. “I like sea life,” said Elizabeth. Other career choices included professional ski racer, zookeeper and meteorologist.

Colton, tells his students about perseverance needed to attain their goals.

“In life I found that talent is great, but to distinguish yourself over time you have to realize that there’s going to be all kinds of peaks and valleys and valleys and peaks. What I try to tell the boys and girls is so what? They’re yours to conquer. I mean it’s a wonderful journey. Take it, embrace it. Nobody can do it for you,” he said.
