Happy birthday, Father Baker

In honor of Father Nelson Baker’s birthday, the students of OLV School in Lackawanna put together this video to which the founder of their school a happy day.

From his ordination in 1876 until his death in 1936, Father Baker served the needy of Buffalo and Lackawanna. He was known at the “Padre of the Poor.” One of his greatest accomplishments was building Our Lady of Victory Basilica, which still stands today.

In 2011, the Congregation for the Cause of Saints declared Father Baker to be venerable based on his heroic virtue. The staff of OLV National Shrine & Basilica are currently working on his cause for canonization.
