The Christopher Mazurkiewicz Award, established in 2002 by an anonymous donor in memory of Christopher Mazurkiewicz, aims to honor a school that exemplifies Christian values, demonstrates strong leadership, and exhibits an exceptional commitment to students with extraordinary financial needs. Christopher, an outstanding individual and product of both great parenting and Catholic education, tragically lost his life in an airplane accident in 2001.

The award serves as a memorial to Christopher’s spirit and pays tribute to his parents, Jerry and Barbara, who have been actively involved in the event since its inception.

STCS Principal Brittany Nichols expressed her gratitude, stating, “We are proud to have been recognized for our unwavering commitment to Christian values, leadership and support for all students especially those facing financial challenges. This accolade reflects the dedication and hard work of the entire school community in fostering an environment that embodies the principles set forth by the Christopher Mazurkiewicz Award.”

In celebration of this achievement, Southern Tier Catholic School is hosting an open house on Wednesday, Feb. 28 from 5 to 7 p.m. Prospective families are invited to explore the exceptional education STCS has to offer, providing an opportunity to tour the school, meet the dedicated teachers, and discover the advantages of a Catholic education.
