Catechetical leaders face challenges of secular society

After almost two years of being in the works, “The Catechetical Leader in the Third Millennium,” was published and implemented on Sept. 27 at a meeting in the Diocese of Brooklyn. The document, written by New York state bishops in collaboration with diocesan directors of religious education, will serve as a blueprint for dioceses of Region 2 in New York state.

Niagara Catholic welcomes middle school students

Niagara Falls offers unique learning opportunities for those who choose Catholic education. Not only does it now house the only joint junior/senior high school in the diocese, but partnerships with Niagara University and Mount St. Mary Hospital give students a head start on their college careers. Bishop Malone delivers homily at Red Mass

Bishop Richard J. Malone was the principal celebrant and homilist at the annual Red Mass, which took place Thursday afternoon at St. Joseph Cathedral in downtown Buffalo.  The Mass serves as reminder for those in the legal and judicial systems to use their faith and morality to promote justice.

Aptly named, this plan outlined the goals and strategies necessary to “re-found” our Catholic elementary schools paying close attention to our Catholic mission, rigorous academics and sound business practices.
