Bike ride seeks to raise funds for World Youth Day

On Sept. 22, instead of just pedaling to get your heart pumping, you can pedal for a purpose as well.  Christ Our Hope Parish in Sherman is holding its third CREEKSIDE RIDE: Pedal for Pilgrims. The bike ride will help raise funds to defray costs of World Youth Day 2013 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Six students will attend college thanks to St. Luke’s

Eighteen years ago, St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy opened on Buffalo’s East Side, with the goal of performing the corporal works of mercy – feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, clothing the naked. The mission’s founders have expanded those works to include educating the needy. read more...
Canisius rowing crew tackles Erie Canal for charity

Six students from Canisius High School faced the challenges of Mother Nature and a lot of water as they rowed nearly the entire length of the Erie Canal to raise money for juvenile diabetes research. All members of the Buffalo high school’s crew team, they paddled and stroked 50 miles a day over the course of a week, beginning June 14 as they trekked from The UB Boathouse on Tonawanda Creek to Alcathy’s Boat Launch in Waterford. read more...
