St Vincent de Paul summer camp offers fun, activities

The St. Vincent de Paul summer camp gives boys and girls ages 8-13 a chance to escape the city, make new friends, do a variety of outdoor activities they may not yet had the chance to experience, and grow in their faith in the process.

Over 50 teens marched on stage carrying cardboard signs admitting thoughts of suicide, self harm, personal loss and poor self-image. On the flipside of these cardboard confessions read the result of prayer, the overcoming of their problems. Buffalo youth lead Washington March for Life

This year marks 40 years of legalized abortion. The infamous Roe v. Wade decision of Jan. 22, 1973, deemed abortion a fundamental right under the Constitution. Almost immediately a grassroots pro-life group led by attorney Nellie Gray began a protest march in front of the Capitol and Supreme Court buildings. The March for Life continues to grow annually, with an estimated 500,000 people taking part this year. read more...

Mount St. Mary’s welcomes Theatre of Change, Holocaust survivor

Mount St. Mary Academy in Kenmore welcomed guests from area elementary schools in November to see a play about acceptance and tolerance presented by the Theatre for Change. The play, “The Blue Rose,” is a stage adaptation of a book by the same name written by Gerda Weissmann Klein, a Holocaust survivor, renowned author and winner of the Presidential Medal of Freedom (2010), who spoke after the performance. read more...
Youth Convention ties into Year of Faith

The diocesan Department of Youth and Young Adult Ministry invites all high school-age teenagers to the 61st annual Diocesan Youth Convention to be held Feb. 15-17, at the Adam’s Mark Hotel in downtown Buffalo. The convention offers large- and small-group learning sessions, faith experiences in the form of Mass and adoration, and a chance to meet other young people on a similar faith journey.
