A former Buffalo-area artist returned to the Nickel City for the blessing of her latest painting, the Divine Mercy. Diane Hayes, a former resident of East Aurora, revealed her work on April 8, just after Divine Mercy Sunday, at the New Hope Education Center on Jefferson Street. Gary and Linda Tatu, who run the center, commissioned the painting. read more...

For the Felician Sisters it was an especially exciting time with the newly elected pope taking the name Francis. Some of the sisters share their reaction to these thrilling events and one sister experienced first hand how these events shook the Vatican.

Humility seems to be one of the first characteristics that comes up when talking about newly appointed Pope Francis. For some of the Sisters of St. Francis and Sisters of Mercy, humility is a key part in being a leader. Reactions to the newly appointed pope were one of excitement and hope, but Pope Francis didn’t seem distracted by the publicity.
